What a kick these were to make. I saw this quilting pattern used on a pillow and just fell in love. Since so much of my work is done using strips of Friendly Plastic, I had to try recreating this pattern for myself. I wasn't quite sure how I was going to use the finished design, but it didn't take me long to figure out that they would make a great set of coasters. I choose a color combination that was a perfect match for use in my breakfast nook. I am happy to say they worked out perfectly and I have used them everyday. I hope you like them.
This is really a fun project... I translated one of my favorite paint and paper techniques to create the same effects on Friendly Plastic. I used the same process, the only difference is that I used alcohol inks in place of the paint. Hope you will find it interesting enough to give it a try. And remember this is just a jumping off point to get you started... make your own changes. You might even want to create Champagne glassed or wine glasses. Whatever suits your fancy... enjoy playing with this technique and project.
